Spring is here! And what better way to kick off the season than with our suggestions on how to spend the perfect spring day this year. With the weather getting warmer, the days getting longer and (hopefully) the sun making more of an appearance, spring is the ideal time of year to balance your time both indoors and outdoors. From taking a breath of fresh air to exploring arts and crafts, this season is all about transitioning out of the winter slump and into the new spring.
Spring weather can be a little unpredictable, but having a plan come rain or shine is always a good idea at this time of year. A great way to spend a rainier spring day is to grab your favourite book, make yourself a hot cup of tea and curl up on the sofa for a day of relaxation. If the sun has decided to make an appearance and weather is in your favour, then why not grab your bike and get out and about into the fresh spring air? It’s the ideal time of year to take a bicycle and not melt from the summer heat.
For those warmer, end of spring days, then taking your dog for a hearty walk will do your mind and body the world of good. As the leaves return to the trees and the daffodils begin to sprout, it will feel worlds away from the cold, winter walks you’re used to taking in the dark at 5 o’clock. There are a wealth of benefits to exercising during the daylight hours, including improving the quality of your mental health and gaining vital amounts of vitamin D. If the weather has proven forgiving, then why not get into the groove of summer and set yourself up a picnic in your garden? Grab yourself your favourite drink, light some candles and cuddle up in a thick blanket around a wood burner for a gorgeous spring evening.
So the weather is rubbish and you’ve been out for your daily spring walk. If perhaps you’re feeling a bit peckish, why not get into the swing of easter and do yourself some easter baking? Whether you bake yourself some traditional easter biscuits, or perhaps a vegan brownie, there are plenty of baking options when it comes to sweet spring cooking. Why not spend your day experimenting with a new easter recipe, whether it is a healthy alternative or simply just a chocolatey treat.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed approach to a spring day, then why not focus on some classic spring home decorating? Spring themed DIY or arts and crafts are a great way to spend a free day, and will take up more of your time than you think. From home made spring wreaths to vase painting, investing some time into creating some home made ornaments is not only therapeutic, but rewarding when you see the finished product.
